Horowhenua Learning Centre/Life to the Max (HLC/LTTM) requires a highly motivated Administration Officer to provide reception and administrative support at our Levin campus.
About us
We offer a wide range of academic and employment programmes to prepare people for the modern workplace. We also have a busy Social Service team, offering youth mentoring and support to a wide variety of Tamariki and Rangatahi.
We are looking for an Administrator who is keen to be part of our mission while our team member is on parental leave – could this be you?
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Administration and working closely with the wider team, this role is key to providing excellent reception and administration support. You will need to be a self-starter, with a focus on people and willing to get stuck in and help when needed. For this role you should have:
Experience with reception/office administration tasks
Excellent in customer service skills
An eye for detail and a high level of accuracy when entering data
An honest can-do attitude with the ability to maintain confidentiality
Contributing to the team and caring about the quality of the service we provide is important to us, and we want it to be important to you too.
Skills & Experience
Ability to work cross-culturally and communicate effectively with a broad range of people
Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to tikanga Māori, te reo and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Pre-employment screening including a police check is required, and a current, full driver’s licence is required for HLC/LTTM roles.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role requires you to work with Ministry of Social Development clients to place them into work or higher education. This will include on-going in work support. You will be competent in assisting clients with CV’s and Cover letter building, interview skills, overcoming barriers to work and other related skills.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Effective communication, administration and interpersonal skills including good computer literacy skills for record management
Ability to network with local employers to build relationships, and an understanding of the local job market
Excellent time management and able to prioritise workloads and meet targets on time
A current, full driver’s licence and a police vet are required for this role.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
This is a full time, permanent position.
We are looking for an enthusiastic tutor to join our Horowhenua campus. The main focus of this role is to provide:
Effective, student-centred tuition to deliver our Hospitality L2 programme and
Learners with the necessary practical skills and knowledge in hospitality to confidently apply for entry level employment in this sector.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
An industry recognised hospitality qualification
Relevant teaching qualification, or prepared to undertake this training
Strong administrative skills
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and reach goals or targets on time
Demonstrated ability to work within teams
High level of interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Strong negotiation and facilitation skills
A focus on continuous improvement
An understanding of effectively supporting the needs of all adult learners, particularly Māori and Pasifika learners.
IT WOULD ALSO BE AN ADVANTAGE TO HAVE:
Experience in the NZQA / TEC education process, or a potential to understand and operate within this industry.
An NCALNE qualification, or prepared to undertake this training
Experience in the development and delivery of multi-mode programmes or courses
Full drivers’ licence

YOUTH COORDINATOR – ATTENDANCE SERVICES

HLC/Life to the Max is a community organisation with a wide spectrum of social service, education and employment programmes. We work in partnerships, such as with students and their whānau to support Tamariki and Rangatahi to realise their full potential and create their future.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is in Attendance Services within our Social Services team (Life to the Max). Our Attendance Co-ordinators predominantly work with schools to manage attendance with an aim to achieve a sustainable return to school for students who are currently disengaged, and enable solutions towards better engagement in education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with schools and manage a full caseload of referrals in a timely manner, connecting with students and whānau to create a back-to-school plan.
Liaise and refer effectively with key service providers and statutory agencies which collaborate to help create sustainable plans of re-engagement.
Ensure timely and regular communication with schools on all referred students.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Previous experience working in partnership with young people /whānau
Experience in implementing effective strengths-based interventions and supports for young people and their whānau
Ability to apply theoretical concepts and professional knowledge to your day-to-day delivery and communications
Knowledge of social support systems and local community resources
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Computer literacy across Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience using data platforms such as client management systems is advantageous (but not required of computer-literate, fast learners)
Ability to work cross-culturally and communicate effectively with a broad range of people
Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to tikanga Māori, te reo and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
A pre-employment police and safety check, including full vetting in accordance with Vulnerable Children requirements is required for this role, as is a current, full NZ driver’s licence.
